The Twilight Saga Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Expands On ‘Breaking Dawn’

Breaking Dawn Melissa Rosenberg 280x430 The Twilight Saga Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg Expands On Breaking Dawn breaking dawn
The Twilight Saga screenwriter talked with PopcornBiz about having fun expanding some characters and stories into two Breaking Dawn movies.

“I did actually [get to do that], because we got to fill out the story because we’re doing the next two movies,” said Rosenberg. “So there was room to play and expand on some of the characters that Stephanie introduces. That was a lot of fun.”

“It’s a much more grownup movie – It’s an adult story,” the writer said of evolving the franchise beyond its high school origins. “The stakes are raised even higher because it’s not the story of teens. It’s the stories of grownups, so we’re talking about marriage and children and family – and these are pretty grownup things, but sexy.”

If you haven’t read the books, beware of the SPOILER up ahead.

Rosenberg says the highlight of the story will be seeing Kristen Stewart’s character Bella become a vampire at long last. “Kristen gets to make the transformation and that is going to be so exciting to see. [Director] Bill [Condon] and I talked about it in developing this script and the screenplay. Now she’s going to embody it. It’s going to be so great.”

Rosenberg, who penned all of the “Twilight” films and previously wrote for Showtime’s “Dexter,” hasn’t quite adjusted to the fact that, minus a few rewrites, her bloody good run is coming to a close.

“It’s a shocking experience after four years to not be writing ‘Twilight!’” she said.

Hmm....it's an adult movie and pretty grown ups things. Ok..I am loving the sound of that. Just hope no cuts will be done when the movie makes it to the theater in Malaysia. ~Beta

New Breaking Dawn casts confirmed!

Press release from the official Twilight Facebook.

Summit Entertainment announced the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven as well as the American and European Nomads as outlined below.

THE AMAZON COVEN

■ Senna - Tracey Heggins
■ Zafrina - Judi Shekoni

Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.

THE EGYPTIAN COVEN

■ Amun - Omar Metwally
■ Kebi - Andrea Gabriel
■ Benjamin - Rami Malek
■ Tia - Angela Sarafyan

The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. It is stated that even though they are not a biological family, they could pass for one. Amun is extremely protective of his family and fearful of Aro.

THE IRISH COVEN

■ Maggie - Marlane Barnes
■ Siobhan - Lisa Howard
■ Liam - Patrick Brennan

The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie’s talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.

THE ROMANIAN COVEN

■ Vladimir - Noel Fisher
■ Stefan - Guri Weinberg

The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi. For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.

THE AMERICAN NOMADS

■ Garrett - Lee Pace
■ Mary - Toni Trucks
■ Randall - Bill Tangradi
■ Peter - Erik Odom
■ Charlotte - Valorie Curry

Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle’s closest and oldest friends.

Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires.

Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates. They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player. They have remained friends with Jasper ever since.

THE EUROPEAN NOMADS

■ Alistair - Joe Anderson

A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority. Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.

The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide expected to go on sale 12 April, 2011

We have been waiting for this book for awhile now and until now, it is still not ready. I wish she is working in Midnight Sun too.

So, Galaxie Magazine blogged today and gave an update on the book.

Well, according to Entertainment Weekly, it’s a reference book by Stephenie Meyer called The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide.
OK, if you Twi-hards are disappointed that it’s not another sequel, consider this: There will be plenty of brand-new details and it is designed to accompany the best-selling novels.
The book is expected to go on sale 12 April, 2011 and the price is US$24.99. It will include character profiles, outtakes, a conversation with the Twilight author, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross references and art by Young Kim, the same person who illustrated Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1.
I’m always amazed at how many in-depth questions my readers have about my characters and the world within the Twilight Saga. With The Official Illustrated Guide, I hoped we could incorporate as many details as possible, including character histories, like Alice’s back story,” Stephenie was quoted saying.
Thank you Galaxie for giving us the news update. :)

A Better Look at The Possible Renesmee - Mackenzie Foy

There has been rumors that this girl has been cast as young Renesmee for Breaking Dawn but Summit hasn't come out to confirm it yet even though Breaking Dawn IMDB page has put her as one of the cast. Although, to me (Beta - Azlina), she is perfect! She has Bella's hair and Edward's look a bit. And she is gorgeous!! As breakingdawnmovie.org said it, Mackenzie Foy is a 9 year old little girl, who is already absolutely breath taking!

A special note from Bill Condon

Hello fans!

Has it really been five months (and a day) since my last dispatch? In my defense, they've been five months spent immersed in the world of TWILIGHT - something I'm sure you can all appreciate. We're in the thick of pre-production now, juggling everything from casting to storyboarding to location scouting, getting it all ready to go, but I do want to take a moment to announce to you exclusively a few of the amazing production team members who are hard at work alongside me, bringing these movies to life. I hope you'll be as excited about them as I am:

Guillermo Navarro, who won an Academy Award for the beautiful PAN'S LABYRINTH, is our cinematographer. Guillermo and I have been painstakingly planning each shot, with a team of very talented storyboard artists.

Michael Wilkinson, our costume designer, is bringing his brilliant vision to the styles of all your favorite characters. Michael's created fantastic looks for 300, WATCHMEN, and the upcoming TRON: LEGACY - just wait 'til you see his take on the vampire witnesses who come to Forks from around the globe.
